The attached short paper was given to the Germanic and Continental Europe Group of Genealogy SA on Wednesday 8 March to recognise the 175th anniversary of the Berlin revolutions (and others throughout Europe), which led to the charter of the Princess Louise to bring 162 German scientists, artists, artisans and other city people to South Australia in 1849. Their contributions to the fledgling British colony were huge.
